From photo to Notion

  1. Photograph your music.

    Keep the page flat and the camera directly above it. Crop to one staff line of music. In the reader, mark the top-left and top-right staff line and bottom-left staff line; begin after the clef and signature.

  2. Transcribe and compare.

    The local detector creates a limited, experimental draft after you mark three staff guides. Use measure tabs to edit pitches, chords, voices, start times and rhythms. C4 is middle C; separate chord notes with spaces. R is a rest.

  3. Listen, then export.

    Listen uses simple tones to check pitch and timing. Download MusicXML and open/import it in Notion or another notation editor. MIDI keeps performance timing but loses notation details.

Prototype limits

Automatic recognition suggests single-note melodies (no chords), natural pitches and simple quarter, half and whole notes only. It does not recognize accidentals, beams, rests, dots, ties, multiple voices or expression. Correct these in the editor. Staff and bar detection can be wrong. The editor supports more notation than the detector.

Learning currently adjusts only filled versus open notehead classification from your verified quarter/half labels. Its evaluation score is not full-transcription accuracy. Keep whole pages/pieces separated between training and evaluation.

Photos and scores stay in this browser. Save project and Back up learning are separate portable backups. Your website’s existing account and progress-sync services remain in place for other tools. The example score is prewritten, not a recognition result.
